Caprice is going North, all the way to Airlie beach, with stops in Sydney and Brisbane, leaving early April 2022!
Would you like to gain some sea-time on a beautiful, comfortable, blue water performance cruiser?
Join us and see whales blowing and breaching, dolphins surfing the bow wave, maybe drag a lure, as long as you clean your own fish!
We are offering mile building opportunities, on a shared cost basis.
There will be 6 passage legs: 3 there and 3 home
Melbourne to Sydney, Sydney to Brisbane (via Southport and the inshore route) and then Brisbane to Airlie Beach:
- 8 April > 17 April : MEL-SYD: 570 Nm
- 22 April > 1 May : SYD - BNE: 450 Nm
- 6 May > 15 May: BNE – AB: 540 Nm
Then we will come home for the summer to restart the Sailing Lifts Your Spirits program,
- 16 Sept > 25 Sept : AB – BNE: 540 Nm
- 30 Sept > 9 Oct : BNE-SYD: 450 Nm
- 14 Oct > 23 Oct : SYD-MEL: 570 Nm
Each passage leg is offered as 10 days on board.
You will be welcomed on day 1 and participate in provisioning, departure preparation and passage planning.
The target for each passage leg is a non-stop delivery, weather permitting, with the opportunity to do some day sailing at the destination. Of course the weather may interfere with the target and there may well be stops at safe harbours along the way
Our passage planning will be based on only sailing when the forecast shows headwinds below 15 Kts and all wind under 30 Kts
The skipper is a commercially-endorsed RYA Offshore Skipper and Cruising Instructor, so bring your notepads and log books and you can make the most of this experience.
You will get lots of time on the wheel and you'll get to take your turn on night watch with a crew mate
You will also have some good down time, so bring a book or two, load up your tablet with your favourite music or movies to share (or to just plug into at night). We have plenty of power on board so you can stay fully charged. We will largely be in range of shore based mobile coverage so you'll be able to make calls and access the internet, most of the time.
The shared costs are $2,000 per person per leg. This includes the professional skipper, all on board food, fuel and marina fees.
All off-boat expenses will be your own responsibility (meals ashore, flights, ground transport etc)
It is recommended that participants should be a member of Australian Sailing, which provides some Personal Accident Insurance (PAI). If you are not a member of Australian Sailing then you will need to have your own PAI. We recommend you have private health insurance.
Caprice is LGBTQ+ friendly, non-smoking and drug-free at all times. There is no alcohol consumption allowed while underway.
In the unlikely event that we are unable to make the planned destination by the expected arrival date, you will have the opportunity to go ashore at a safe port to make your way home. You will of course be welcome to stay on board until we get to our planned destination
COVID outbreaks could potentially impact the ports considered safe so we would suggest having flexible flights and some flexibility in your travel dates. For everyone's safety, all Mile Builders will need to be fully COVID vaccinated.
